Dirk Hincha

Dirk Hincha received his PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of Würzburg, Germany and continued as a Research Associate, working on plant freezing tolerance at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. As a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Science Foundation he split his time between the Free University in Berlin and the University of California, Davis. He joined the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam, Germany, in 1999. His research is mainly focused on plant stress tolerance, in particular freezing tolerance in Arabidopsis, drought, heat and high-night-temperature tolerance in rice and the structure and function of LEA proteins.
