Dr. John Bischof works in thermal bioengineering focusing on biopreservation, thermal therapy, and nanomedicine. He is recipient of the ASME Van Mow Medal and is a Fellow of Cryobiology, ASME, JSPS, AvH and AIMBE. He has bioengineering degrees from University of California at Berkeley (B.S 1987), and U.C. Berkeley and San Francisco (M.S. 1989), and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of California at Berkeley in 1992. After a Post Doctoral Fellowship at Harvard, he joined the University of Minnesota in 1993. He is now a Distinguished McKnight University Professor, the inaugural Carl and Janet Kuhrmeyer Chair, and the Interim Director of the Institute for Engineering in Medicine.
